Women’s Beginning Road Racing Clinic

This year's clinic will be on Saturday April 7th.

Our 2nd annual spring skill-building clinic gives women cyclists the opportunity to become better riders in a friendly, supportive environment. In a combination of lecture and on-the-bike drills you’ll learn from some of the top female riders and coaches in the Midwest. The clinic will cover everything you need to know, from how to train, to what to bring on race day, to what to expect in your first race. You'll also meet representatives from clubs around the Twin Cities that are welcoming to women.

WHEN: 9:00 am-1:00pm

WHERE: Midtown YWCA in Minneapolis

COST: $10

WHAT TO BRING: Your bike, helmet and cycling clothing. You’ll be able to change at the YWCA.

Look for more details in the next few weeks. For questions, email alexandrakerl(at)yahoo.com

Hi, can you tell me about how much of the clinic will be on-bike vs lecture? Will there be much emphasis on bike handling and group riding?

Thanks!
Chris

The split will be about half
and half, with part of the time being devoted to information about
racing and the race series for women new to racing that is in it's
second year in Minnesota (I started racing as part of the series last
year) and the other part will be a chance to learn and practice pack
handling skills on bikes. The focus of the on-bike portion will depend
slightly on ability level, as we'll have people self-select a group based
on how comforable they are with group riding and how much group riding
they've done. Then we'll be doing several handling drills. I hope that
helps! Let me know if you've got any more questions.

Alix, due to weather ....sad this may be an issue, Cross bike or road bike?? i kinda dont want to muck up my road bike outdoors if it is messy, yet handling the road versus the cross is different I know.
Thanks for your opinion..

Any bike will work for the clinic, so bring whatever you feel comfortable on. You'll be able to learn from the clinic no matter what bike you bring.

Looks like Saturday will be a bit chilly, but dry and warmer than it has been all this week. Bring your layers!
